Renting out a home in Stechford
Stechford grew up around its station, opened in 1844. Victorian houses survive along Station Road and Albert Road, with inter-war private housing, council estates from the 1930s to the 1960s, and small 1980s estates elsewhere.
Victorian houses near the station are the type often split into flats or used as shared houses, which brings extra rules (see below).
- Trains to New Street in about 9 minutes
- Heartlands Hospital in neighbouring Bordesley Green
- Stechford Retail Park and Stechford Cascades leisure centre
Our work in Stechford
We have let or managed more than ten homes in Stechford over the last few years, and the rents we achieve sit in line with the local market.
Much of our work here is selective licensing: checking whether an address is in the scheme, putting the application together for the landlord, and keeping the licence conditions met once a tenant is in.
We also manage licensed HMOs. That includes homes let to supported accommodation providers, where we deal with the provider on the landlord's behalf and make sure the risks are understood before anything is signed.
We also run landlord seminars in Birmingham on the new rules, licensing and tax. The next one is in the last week of November 2026. Join the seminar waitlist.

Licensing and the rules in Stechford
Stechford comes under Birmingham City Council. It depends on the street. Part of Stechford is in Yardley West & Stechford, inside Birmingham's selective licensing scheme, and part is in Glebe Farm & Tile Cross, outside it. Check the exact address with our postcode checker.
As a rough guide, the station and Station Road side is in the scheme, and the side towards Stechford Retail Park is not.
A building split into flats without meeting the 1991 Building Regulations can count as a section 257 HMO and need its own licence.
Shared houses: a new small HMO (three to six sharers) needs planning permission anywhere in Birmingham, under the city-wide Article 4 direction in force since 8 June 2020. HMOs with three or four sharers have also needed an additional licence since 5 June 2023, and five or more need a mandatory licence.
